Examples of Merchanting Techniques
Here are samples of some merchanting techniques that have proven
to be very successful for many players.
Runes:
(Non-Members and Members) You can check
and keep track of the prices of nature runes and other runes on
various servers, then start merchanting between them. If you have
access to the magic guild, buy the runes there and sell them on
the street at World 2 Falador for more than you bought them for.
Also, you can buy and sell runes from the Varrock or Port Sarim
runes shop. The runes to look for are the chaos and death runes.
If the shop is out of stock on one particular server, simply
keep switching servers and buying chaos and death runes. Once
you obtain a good inventory, sell them on World 1 or World 2.
Big Bones and Dragon Bones:
(Non-Members and Members) You can buy high demand bones on small servers (try buying them
where many people are gathering them) for cheap prices then sell
them for more money on World 1 Varrock or World 2 Falador.
Limpwurt Roots: (Non-Members and
Members) Buy Limpwurt roots
on non-members servers and sell them for more on members servers.
If you're a non-member, you can buy Limpwurt roots and try to sell
them to members on World 1. Keep track of potential buyers by
reading the forums.
Lobsters and other food:
(Non-Members and Members) Buy cooked or raw lobsters from Karajarma and bring them back to
Varrock or Falador to sell them for more than the price you bought
(make sure you bring 60gp to pay the round trip ship fare!). It
also helps to sell food near the wilderness, where it's in very
high demand. If
you have a high cooking level, you can cook the raw lobsters yourself
for even more profit. If you're a member, try merchanting
sharks instead of lobsters. Pay a visit to the Thieves' Den in
Burthorpe and look for people cooking near the everlasting fire.
If you can't find anyone cooking by the fire, try to keep
switching worlds until you find a cook. After you do find
someone cooking, ask them if they have any cooked sharks. If
they do, buy these cooked sharks for the lowest possible price.
After you obtain a nice stock of sharks, bring them to a popular
player killing world such as World 6 or World 9 and sell the
sharks near the wilderness to player killers.
Colored Gloves: (Members Only) After completing
the members only Priest in Peril quest, head to the werewolf
village and purchase colored gloves, which cost only 650 gp each.
Stock up on the popular colors such as gold and red. Now sell the
gloves on non-members servers for the market price there, which
is usually in the thousands.
Unidentified Herbs: (Members Only) A great way for members
to earn money by merchanting is to buy and sell unidentified herbs.
Simply buy them for 1k each, and sell them for 1k – 2k each elsewhere.
If you have a high herbalore level, identifying the herbs that you
buy will make you even more profit. When buying and selling unidentified
herbs, make sure that there are 11 stacks of herbs on the trade
screen and that they all contain even numbers of herbs.
When identifying
herbs, first find out which types of herbs your unidentified herbs
actually are. Identify one herb from each stack and remember which
stack it came from. Unidentified Harlander, Rannar, Irit, Avantoe,
Kwuarm, Cadantine, Dwarf Weed, and Ladytymes herbs are usually worth identifying
and selling. However, unidentified Guam, Marrentil, and Tarromin
herbs are not worth identifying. Re-sell these cheaper herbs while
they are still unidentified.
Coal: (Non-Members and Members) Buy coal on smaller servers for
cheap and sell them on World 1 or World 2 Falador for market price.
Vials:
(Members Only) First, buy some empty vials for market
price. I recommend reading or posting on the forums to find
sellers. After you've collected as many as you can, go to
Falador and fill all the vials at the well there. Once you've
filled all the vials, sell the newly water filled vials on the
forums for as much as you can.
Try to sell the water filled vials for 2 to 3 times the price
you bought the empty vials for. As always, aim for the best
deals possible.
