Wrapping it up - Protecting Your
Account
This section is a must-read
for players with any amount of gold points!
Many people are worried about their
account getting hacked, but preventing accounts from theft is very
simple.
To protect your Runescape account, make
sure you have a good password. A strong password is at least 6 characters
long, and contains both letters and numbers, like the following
password:
U8n4l1
Do not use any words in the dictionary,
as these are much easier to guess than a password like the one above.
However, a word in the dictionary mixed with numbers is usually
secure, such as 1free457.
You must also have security questions
in place. Make sure that nobody else besides you knows these questions,
as anybody who answers these correctly will receive full access
to your account. Use as many security questions as possible.
Your bank pin should be a random 4 digit
number you thought up, not something like your birthday.
Check your account everyday to look
for any suspicious activity. If the "You last logged in..." record
(displayed every time you log in) does not match any of the computers
that you played Runescape from, change your password and security
questions immediately.
Don't fall for scams! Take all the precautions
you already know to prevent against scams, and always double
check the final trade window!
Don’t use your password, security questions,
or bank pin anywhere else other than Runescape.com. If you sign
up for anything, make sure you're not using your Runescape password.
