Basic Tips and Tricks

• See the Protecting Your Gold section for tips on protecting your account. You must read this section if you’re serious about making any amount of gold!
  
  

• Any level Runescape player can be a millionaire, from level 3 to 123. You can start out with any amount of gold when following this guide.
  
  

• Don’t fall for scams. Always check the final trade screen, never give out your password, and never use your password anywhere except for Runescape.com. If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true.
  
  

• The Runescape forums contain a wealth of information. Visit it often, and you can get a very good idea of general prices. This is invaluable when merchanting or making investments. If you’re not a member, you can still view the forums and look for potential buyers and sellers.
  
  

• Cheating is easily detected. I don’t recommend using autobots or scamming, this will only get you into trouble.
  
  

• You may be able to become a Runescape millionaire very quickly, but you can’t become a Runescape billionaire overnight. If you play an hour a day, becoming a billionare still takes many months or even years. Just stay focused on your goal, and keep playing the game.
  
  

• While making gold in Runescape, it’s best not to get focused on other Runescape skills. Skills are not essentially the key to making money on Runescape, and training other skills will sometimes only hinder your progress.
  
  

• Use the chat effects when buying or selling items. For example, typing “cyan:” then your text will highlight it in blue. The text is much easier to see this way. Also, you can type your name in the message to make you easier to locate. Don’t state what price you’re buying or selling the item at – negotiate it out of the other player.
  
  

• Play on the best possible computer on the best possible Internet connection. If your computer skips or lags, you may miss out on a good deal! It helps a lot to play on low detail, also. The roofs on some buildings are not displayed on low detail so you can see potential buyers or sellers inside. Playing on low detail can help a lot if you're on a slower computer, too.
  
  

• When selling items, it is usually a good idea to use World 1 Varrock or World 2 Falador(If you’re a member). However, prices are usually cheaper on smaller worlds.
  
  

• Use the Runescape map and quest guides located on the official Runescape website to help you with anything mentioned in this guide. For example, if I ask you to go to the Edgeville Dungeon, you can locate it on the Runescape map.
  
  

• As always, it’s better to become a Runescape member. There are numerous benefits, and it is a more fun experience. Also, the moneymaking techniques available to you are more numerous. However, you don't need to become a member to make millions (even billions) in Runescape. Prices usually go for more on members servers, so be sure to check there first when selling.
